About
SeriousBull is about Politics, the Economy & the Markets. Our agenda is to expose serious B.S. and to provide insight into What’s Ahead in the Economy & Financial Markets.
SeriousBull asks questions often “off limits” to the traditional press. Our view is that the political economy can function better, and resolve important issues more expediantly, if a good measure of frank, critical thought is interjected into the public dialogue.
SeriousBull’s political philosophy is centered on dialectic–the practice of arriving at truth by exchange of logical argument. A key tool we use is to criticize policy decisions to inform readers about the consequence of choice. The important point is not that our criticisms are necessary completely correct, though our perceptions may be.
The scope of our commentary is apolitical, meaning we do not have any political party affiliation or agenda. That is, we comment and criticize politicians for their policy initiatives without consideration of politics or what group is on the receiving or contra side. In our mind’s eye right is right, and might should be only a judicious last resort for advancing the common good when democratic means have failed.
Our point of departure is that of a global entreprenueur and citizen seeking to rationalize policy decisions and government actions while being objective. We seek to expose double-standard, unreasonableness, flat out lies, and injustice to make the world think and act just a little more friendly. We are in a few words, pragmatic idealists because we believe that our most persistent problems can be solved if their is mutual gain in the equation.
Our successes, our experience from failure, and foresight to relate both to the past and to current events are our credentials. We hope entrenched assumptions that doom us to the mistakes of the past will wear thin on all global citizens if pointed out, and pray that in some small way we can be a catylist for more dialogue and multi-lateral benevolence. Yet at SeriousBull we are realist at the same time. We know the political economy is addicted to the embedded ”might makes right” and “power in profits” mentality and that Voltaire’s rational enlightenment for which we ultimately aspire can give us little near term hope to curtail fraud and abuse in governments. Meantime we are content with indentifying “spin” and reaping profits by being ahead of the news and knowing that generally aftermath of hindsight will correct the ’serious bull’ so often factored in the news.
