Warren Buffet announced his willingness to act as a re-insurer of municipal bond credit risk. So far monoline insurers have given his General Re reinsurance firm a polite, no thank you. Buffet made it clear he had no interest in the exotics. Perhaps he would consider re-insuring Ginnie Mae?
